Passau, Germany: First Stop on the Romantic Danube Cruise
When you think of Bavaria, images of snow-covered Alpine vistas, the city of Munich, and the Oktoberfest celebration may immediately come to mind. But did you know that Germany’s State of Bavaria, the largest state in the nation by land area, is home to picturesque and historic cities that are so worth a visit? One of these gems is Passau, located in lower Bavaria at the confluence of three rivers, the most famous being the Danube. With roots dating back to Roman times, visitors can experience the city’s 2000-year history first-hand in its winding streets, along its romantic river promenades and in its ancient city squares, all within easy walking distance of its main square.
