Dawes Glacier & Endicott Arm
Blessed with a glorious sunny May day, nothing could prepare Safari Excursion passengers for the unforgettable view they would experience. After gliding through Endicott Arm, with its cliff-sliced fjords cut into the mountainous mainland, Dawes Glacier appeared at the end of the inlet—a mountain of blue ice shimmering in the morning sun. A full day was spent in this awe-inspiring fiord. Skiffs carried passengers closer to, but within safe distance, of the glacier. Late morning, the passengers in two skiffs were fortunate to experience the roar, cracking, and dramatic fall of ice as the glacier calved into the ice-filled fiord! In the afternoon, passengers were invited to kayak through Endicott Arm to enjoy the unforgettable experience of paddling past glacier ice floes and some of the most magnificent scenery in Alaska.
