Flora and Fauna

The flora and fauna experienced during the week was itself a highlight of the voyage. Wildlife sightings included brown bear, sea lions, mountain goats, otters, puffins and numerous other sea birds—as well as more bald eagles than anyone can hope to see in a lifetime! Not to speak of whales....the humpback whales put on a show for the passengers on several occasions. While not as dramatic as a leaping whale or soaring eagle, the delicate flowers and other vegetation that thrive in the Southeast Alaska rain forest were exquisitely beautiful and invited passengers to take a closer look at what lay beneath their feet on nature’s paths.
