Athens--Come Face to Face with Antiquity on Your Final Destination

Constructed in 447 B.C., when the Athenian Empire was at its peak, you’ll never forget stepping into this ancient world. The Parthenon is not the only magnificent ancient temple on the Acropolis. Just a few steps away, you can marvel at the Temple of Erechtheion, constructed in 406 B.C. The “Porch of the Maidens,” with six draped female figures (caryatids) serving as supporting columns, is world famous. The original maidens, replaced on site by replicas to preserve them from modern pollution, can be seen in the nearby New Acropolis Museum, another “must see” during your visit.
