Old Town Temecula
The Temecula Valley is steeped in history. Its first residents were the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Native American Indians. In 1797, Franciscan Padre Juan Norberto de Santiago treked through the valley to ultimately establish a rancho at Mission San Luis Rey. In 1858, the Butterfield Overland stagecoach made its first stop in Temecula en route from St. Louis to San Francisco. You'll feel as if you are back in the 19th Century as you stroll through Old Town's colorful streets. The historic heart of Temecula, Old Town is abuzz to this day with charming shops, restaurants and bistros, wine tasting rooms, museums, art galleries, and a community theatre, among other attractions.
