Île d'Orléans, Montmorency Falls, Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré
A few minutes outside of the city, you will find amazing places to explore. Touring the Île d'Orléans in the St. Lawrence River is like visiting rural Quebec over 100 years ago. The rich local heritage includes villages, farms, churches and centuries-old houses. Head off down Chemin Royal, the 17th century road that loops around the island, and stop by artisans' workships, art galleries and quaint boutiques, as well as fruit and vegetable stands selling countless delicious foods grown or prepared on the island.
The Montmorency Falls are a breathtaking natural phenomenon, visible from both a cable car and a foot path. Visit the Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre shrine, the oldest pilgrimage site North of Mexico. Nearly one million visitors a year travel to this place of worship, which has been drawing the faithful for over 350 years.
