Heidelberg Germany
Germany’s oldest university town, Heidelberg, is situated in the Neckar Valley just east of the Rhine. Known as the cradle of the German Romantic art movement, it also is home to the imposing Heidelberg Castle, which dates back to the 13th Century. The castle is a perfect spot from which to view the magnificent city of Heidelberg below.
Legend has it that Heidelberg's cityscape is so beautiful and so admired as a world heritage site that American forces deliberately chose to avoid bombing it during World War II.
